The donation was made by possible by the Kohl's A-Team program, which encourages associates to volunteer their time to a youth-serving non-profit organization. Each team of five or more Kohl's associates that volunteer a minimum of three hours receives a corporate grant of $500 from Kohl's, which is donated to the non-profit organization. In 2006, approximately 16,000 Kohl's associates volunteered more than 57,000 hours, which helped Kohl's donate more than 1.2 million dollars to youth organizations.
