As a child I took ballet, piano, and Spanish folk dance
lessons, but nowadays I prefer to dance to tropical music,
thanks to the other private lessons I received from my nanny,
who really knew how to "shake her booty" (family
album). |

That is how I felt the day of my First Holy Communion. Here I
am with both my grandmothers (family album) |

In Cuban tradition, I celebrated my fifteenth birthday with a
party at the Key Biscayne Yacht Club. I had a blast! By then we
were back on our feet (family album). |

I am with my parents (in the left of this photo). At the center
is my grandmother Mamamia, holding my sister Vicky. Next to
them is my grandfather Pelusa, my cousin Maritere, and my aunt
Terina. Behind them are my uncles Pepito and Julio (family
album). |

This is the last photo taken of us by my mom before leaving
Cuba. Here I am on the patio of our home in Miramar along with
Dad and my brother and sisters. Vicky, Patxi, and Maria
Eugenia. My little brother, Iñaki was born later in Miami
(family album). |

That is how we had to rebuild our lives in exile. Here we are
on the front lawn of our Key Biscayne home getting ready to go
to Sunday Mass (family album). |
