Cristina Receives An Honorary Doctorate From Florida International University
New York, NY, September 18, 2007 – Spanish-language television star Cristina Saralegui, host and executive producer of Univision’s “El Show de Cristina” (“The Cristina Show”), will receive an Award for her Outstanding Lifetime of Achievement in Hispanic Television, presented jointly by Multichannel News (www.multichannelnews.com) and Broadcasting & Cable (www.broadcastingcable.com), during the Fifth Annual Hispanic Television Summit in New York.
"We are thrilled to present this honor to Cristina,” said Multichannel News and Broadcasting & Cable Publisher Larry Dunn. “She is an outstanding individual who has contributed to the overall profile and profitability of Spanish-language television."
Cristina Saralegui, a 30-year veteran journalist, sees her #1 role in television as a motivator for women and as a champion of a healthy, gracious and self-empowered lifestyle. After 12 EMMY® Awards and nearly 4,000 shows, “The Cristina Show” is still one of the highest rated programs on Spanish-language television. In the U.S., “The Cristina Show” airs Monday nights at 10 PM (ET) on the Univision Network.
"This is really quite an honor and a pleasure for me, and I appreciate the acknowledgement of my colleagues in our industry," said Cristina upon hearing that she was invited to be the 2007 Outstanding Lifetime of Achievement award recipient. "It's a great feeling. I know that I share this honor with the many people I have worked with through the years, notably those at Univision Networks."
In 2004, Cristina created the Casa Cristina™ collection, a complete collection of home furnishings inspired by her personal style. To date, the Casa Cristina™ collection is comprised of furniture, home accessories, lighting, mattresses, bed and bath accessories, kitchen textiles, dishware, glassware and silverware. The Casa Cristina™ collections were launched in Spring 2007 throughout the 820 Kohl’s stores nationwide and on www.kohls.com.
Cristina will receive the Award for her Outstanding Lifetime of Achievement at the Fifth Annual Hispanic Television Summit at the Marriott Marquis Times Square Hotel in New York City. The award ceremony will take place Oct. 4 at 12:30 p.m.
